REVEALED: Top U-21 Players In the Premier League

The Liverpool-born fullback has come to real prominence this season, with injuries plaguing the Liverpool squad, he had to fill-in back in November, and has kept his place since. In his breakthrough season, he’s been playing at left-back, even though his natural position is right-back, and he’s nothing short of exceptional. He’ll be looking to break into the England squad in the future. 


10. Ward-Prowse – Southampton

Ward-Prowse has been a prominent member of England’s youth setups over the past few years, and featured regularly for the Saints this season. He is a versatile midfielder who can play both defensive midfielder and attacking midfielder, and is a very good set-piece specialist.

8 Serge Gnabry – Arsenal

The young German is a popular youngster among Arsenal fans, the midfielder moved to London in 2011, and looks to be a promising young star. Initially used a winger, he is a very versatile front man too, and has scored 6 goals in 8 games for Arsenals U18s.

7 Ross Barkley – Everton

Evertons young midfielder has had a fantastic season, summed up by his nomination for Young Player of the Year recently. Hailed as the ‘new Steven Gerrard,’ Barkley is a strong, quick, and powerful central midfielder, with skillful feet and a cracking shot to go with it. It’ll be interesting to see how the Englishman progresses.

6 Romelu Lukaku – Chelsea (on loan at Everton)

The Belgian front-man was signed by Chelsea in August 2011 for a fee in the region of £17million, back when Lukaku was only 17, which outlines how much a prospect he is. Not deemed ready yet by Chelsea staff, Lukaku has enjoyed successful spells at West Brom, and currently at Everton, where he’s really blossoming.

5 Luke Shaw – Southampton

Another Southampton youngster on the list, Shaw has risen to prominence this season as one of the most promising full-backs in the English game. Having recently won his first England cap, Shaw is now an in-demand player, with the likes of Chelsea and Man United willing to stump up to £25million for the 18-year old star

4 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Arsenal

‘The Ox’ has certainly risen in both ability and status, as he is now a common piece of English giant Arsenal’s starting line-up. He has struggled this season with injuries, but when he’s been healthy, he’s been superb. Originally used as a winger, he is now deployed as more of a center-mid, and he’s excelling.

3 Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool

The Brazilian youngster was bought by the Reds last January for a bargain £8million from Inter Milan. Since he’s arrived, Coutinho has been an integral part of the Reds side, helping them to mount a serious title challenge, and has become one of the most formidable opponents in Europe.

2 Adnan Januzaj – Manchester United

The young star has come to prominence this season under Moyes’ men, with some stellar performances, including a match winning performance against relegation-threatened Sunderland, in which he scored two stunning goals. The 19 year old looks to be destined for big things, but first, he’ll have to pick a nationality, as he has many to pick from!

1 Raheem Sterling – Liverpool

Sterling has been phenomenal this season, with match-winning performances against the likes of Tottenham and Man City. Now being an England International, the 19-year old winger will almost definitely become a star in the not-too-distant future. He’s also looking to be on the plane to Brazil for England’s world cup campaign in Brazil this summer, which is extremely likely.
